I remember like it was yesterday.

April 4, 2025.
Friday night - 5pm.

I close my laptop after trying to close one last deal.

Then I package it up, drive to FedEx, ship it off - and think, “Whoa.”

I’m officially unemployed.

Here I am trying to wrangle in one last deal in software sales before shipping off my laptop! Classic work from home - sunbathing, shoes off, feet on earth, no shirt - not bad

It was a strange feeling - excitement combined with “holy shit, what have I done.”

Then I thought, “Well - I leave for Bali in the morning. I should probably pack.”

I went home, looked at the massive pile of clothes and gear I accumulated over the last several months, and thought, “Now what?”

“How do I get all of this in 1.5 backpacks?” (7 journals and 5 books not featured)

My mom and I were hanging in the living room, and somehow, someway, the current episode of “The Amazing Race” was… you guessed it.

In Bali.
Ubud to be exact.
Exactly where I would be in two days.

Of course.

🌱 When the universe aligns like this, I was taught to accept that “of course” things are working out exactly as they should.

Shoutout my therapist and coach, Scott McElroy, for that one.

So the next time things align for you - don’t be shocked.

Rather - embrace it.

“Of course” it’s working out when you move in alignment with yourself, your intuition, and your instincts.

And when it happens, remember:
You’re right where you’re supposed to be.

Okay, back to the story ⬇️

Somehow I managed to pack everything into two carry-on backpacks, then hop into bed.

It felt like Christmas.
I couldn’t believe this was happening.

After years of thinking about it, I finally bought the one-way ticket to travel the world. The time was finally here.

Alarm goes off the next morning, I hop out of bed, and head straight for the gym.
First order of business: Get in a workout. Always.

Ripped the stairstepper, sprinted home, showered up, grabbed my bags, and parents took me to the airport.

I was in all sorts of feels.
A life dream is finally coming true.

I get to the ticket counter, fired up for this next chapter, next LIFE, to begin…

And BAM.

Ticket lady hits me with, “Can I see your proof of departure of Indonesia?”

Heart drops.

Stomach sinks.

Lord knows I didn’t have one.

Let the travels begin!

🌱 If there’s anything I’ve learned after a year of traveling, it’s that you figure it out as you go.

Don’t stress.
One step at a time.
Next best behavior.
I’ll figure it out.

Always have, always will.

And you will too.

That’s the nature of travel.
That’s the nature of life.

Back to the ticket counter.

Naturally, my parents were wondering what the hell was going on.
Honestly - same. I was a little rattled 😂

But rest assured, I read about this on Reddit one time so it didn’t catch me TOO off guard 😉

I stepped to the side, bought the cheapest fully refundable flight from Bali to Malaysia I could find, and then walked back up to the counter smiling ear to ear.

“Here you go,” I confidently said.

She scans the ticket, types something in the computer, and hands me a ticket.
Boom baby - ready to go.

Figuring it out.
One step at a time.

Next up: saying our goodbyes.

Or rather our “see you laters” as my host dad in Bali would later teach me.

It’s never goodbye - but see you later 🌱

And sure enough, he’s been right every time.

(I’ve re-visited him more times than probably anyone else in the last year, with more plans to go back to Bali in one month)

I hugged my parents, stepped into the security line, waved final “see you laters", and off I went.

Into the next chapter of my life.
Into the unknown.

Proof of departure off we go!

“Okay, now I should probably figure out this Visa on Arrival thing”

I open my laptop, re-read some notes on visas I learned from a friend, and bought a 30-day visa.

“Did that work? Was it that easy?”

Guess we’ll get there and find out.

Then I quickly ran through my life checklist:
Move out of my house
Move into parents’ house
Purchase one-way ticket to Bali
Quit job

Next up: board plane

Sometimes life provides those moments that stop you in real time.

An “Oh my God this is really happening” moment.
“I’m living my dream - I’m doing it!”

Following by immediate panic.

I’m flying to Bali.
Solo.
Unemployed.

What did I do?

Onwards we go…
Into the unknown.

After a 16.5 hour flight to Singapore, sleeping in the airport with a 12-hour layover, taking one last flight to Bali…

I officially made it.

My host dad, Ketut (yes - just like from Eat, Pray, Love), picked me up from the airport, brought me to my Airbnb ($10/night), I put my bags down, and thought, “Now what?”

Another “oh shit” moment.

So I did what I do whenever I get to a new city.
I explored with my feet.

Wandered aimlessly for 8 miles around the city.
Letting curiosity and instincts guide the way.

Getting familiar with my local surroundings.
My new (home?) for the foreseeable future.

I had no plan, no itinerary.

Just a week booked in Ubud,
and a blank canvas waiting to be painted from there.

And quite the canvas it came to be.

One week turned into one month.
And one month turned into two.

Exploring, traveling, doing yoga, grounding, healing, opening, deepening.

🏝️ I explored neighboring islands (Gili Air, Lombok, Sumbawa)
🐳 Dove with Whale Sharks.
🤿 Got my Advanced Open Water Scuba certification.
❤️ Softened my heart at a Tantra retreat.
🍜 Started eating with my hands.
🏍️ Learned how to drive a motorbike.
🕺🏻 Sweat my ass off at ecstatic dances.
🌙 Became fascinated with the moon.
✍️ Wrote. Every day. Religiously.

And made friends from all over the world.

Then one night, I looked at the stars and heard “Go to Thailand.”

“Sounds good - let’s do it,” I thought.

20 minutes later I booked a flight to Koh Phangan (everyone said they had the best ecstatic dances - Pyramid anyone?), and off we went.

Once again - no plan, no itinerary.

Just a hunch.
An intuition.
Guidance from others.
A nudge from the universe.

Here’s what happened next:

🇹🇭 One month in Thailand living the island life: yoga, music, dance, motorbikes, ayahuasca ceremony - even got my ass kicked trying Muay Thai
💒 Came home to surprise my sister and family at her wedding
🚗 40-day roadtrip to 13 National Parks, sleeping in my car, driving 7,000+ miles and taking almost 1,000,000 steps - arguably favorite thing I’ve ever done
🧘‍♂️ Went back to Bali for a Yoga Teacher Training
🏡 Came home and taught yoga for five months - I was truly living in a calling
👼🏻 Met my baby nephew, Leo
🇬🇹 Decided it was time to travel again - booked another one-way ticket to Guatemala

And here we are today - one year exactly since I quit my job, boarded that plane to Bali, and left my old life behind.

Writing these words from my hostel rooftop in Copán Ruinas, Honduras at 9:23pm after going to 7pm Easter service at the local church.

Only gringo in sight.
Wouldn’t have it any other way.

Confirming a personal truth that sometimes we need to let go of the past,
to make way for the future.

That moving in alignment with what feels true for you,
what feels true in your heart,
will work itself out one way or another.

No matter the pain.
No matter how hard the truth is.
Even if the path doesn’t seem clear.

Because trust me - all of that has been true.

But I can tell you that following the feeling and trusting my intuition has led to an aligned life beyond my wildest imagination.

So when you feel that nudge,
When you feel the call,
Go for it.

The life you want is on the other side of the fear and resistance.

🧘‍♂️ Mindfulness Tip of the Week

Tip: Journaling + Reflection

Action: Last week you put pen to paper writing about your thoughts, emotions, feelings, and/or experiences.

This week I encourage you to go back and read your writing.

Value: Oftentimes you’ll find hidden lessons, insights, ideas, or breakthroughs.

Or maybe you simply remember what an amazing week you had.

Or what a challenging week you made it through.

Either way - there’s powerful in the reflection.
