Seeds Fam - what up! Currently in the airport heading to Louisiana to see my fam and meet the newphew. Can’t freaking WAIT!

Then, one-way to Guatemala.

Off we go 🚀

I’ve been working on a special newsletter the last couple of weeks, but it’s not done and I don’t want to rush it.

So, in light of the next adventure, here’s a journal recap from completing my Advanced Open Water Scuba Diving certification last year in Bali 🤿

I hope it inspires you to seek adventure, embrace discomfort, and do the things you’ve always wanted to do.

🤿 Advanced Open Water Certification 🦈

Date: June 24, 2025

Location: Gili Air (West Nusa Tenggara), Indonesia

5 dives in two days including:

  • Deep dive (31m, 101 ft)

  • Night dive

  • Ship wreck

  • Skills training

10pm off the coast of Gili Air, Indonesia - couldn’t see shit!

While this might sound cool, the reality is there was so much fear, discomfort, pain, and doubt to get to this point.

During my initial training ~10 years ago, I was terrified learning to breathe underwater.

Choking, coughing, panic, sprinting to the surface - ready to quit.

My teacher literally told me, “You do that in the ocean you’re dead"

Yikes.

I decided to try one more time to get comfortable underwater, and if not, I would quit.

Plain and simple.

So I maximized discomfort and embraced fear as hard as I could.

Did all my skills again. Swam without a mask. Threw my tank to the bottom of the pool. Retrieved it. Didn’t die.

Developed my skills, and myself,

And left that day with confidence.

I completed my open water dives, passed the class, and have now dived (dove? I still don’t know) 20+ times in some of the most beautiful places in the world (Cozumel, Belize, Bali, Thailand)

Feelin’ good 100+ feet down!

Diving has taught me to:

  • Take action in the face of fear

  • Embrace discomfort

  • Breathe

All pretty important life skills.

Through the process, I’ve become a stronger version of myself.

Even during my advanced certification I experienced challenges equalizing, ear pain, and severe nausea.

What an opportunity! To embrace discomfort, identify the next best behavior, and take it one step at a time.

Patience and (pleasant) persistence.

Grateful for the perseverance because the ocean is magical.

An entirely new world of amazement, curiosity, freedom, surrender.

A place to truly let go - and just be.

Cheers to the adventure 🦈

My man Zul! Dive master who helped me complete my Advanced Cert - legend 🤙🏽

For You: I believe fear doesn’t go away, but instead we can develop courage and bravery in the face of fear.

Courage to have the hard conversation.

Strength to keep going in the mountains.

Bravery to face the truth.

Guts to make the call.

Embrace Step 4.

The next time something hurts, your heart races, you get the butterflies, or you debate avoiding - I encourage you to step into it.

Lean into the resistance.

Alchemize the feeling.

Face the fear.

Everything you want is on the other side of it.

Dude was just chillin!

P.S. - if you’ve ever considered diving, consider this your nudge to test the waters. Promise it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen or experienced.

Let me know if you have any questions at all.

Yoga (Life) Tip of the Week 🧘‍♂️

Tip: Return to the breath.

On the mat: Lose balance? Return to the breath. Mind wanders? Back to the breath.

Off the mat: Use the breath to center. Return to the moment. Calm the emotions if things spiral. Be where your feet are.

P.P.S. - taught my final yoga classes yesterday before leaving for my trip. 113 in total, just under 5 months. Wild how fast time goes.

Enjoy the moment…

💡Quote & Question I’m Thinking About

Quote: “I had been on a path that wasn’t mine and to find a new forward, I would need to step into the unknown.”

Question: One-way ticket booked to Guatemala. One week booked for AirBNB. No plan after that. I wonder where this next venture is going to lead…
