Another Sunday, another newsletter. Let’s get into it.

It’s been almost two weeks since returning home from Meditation Teacher Training in Bali, and life has been moving:

  • Back teaching yoga

  • Rüfüs du Sol at The Gorge

  • Two-a-days running + yoga

    • (Just hit back-to-back 30-mile weeks)

  • Writing, journaling, meditation

  • House projects for neighbors

And…

Helping my parents move.

To Mississippi.

In three weeks…

For the first time in my life, the home I’ve always returned to for safety, comfort, and love…

Won’t be there.

Naturally, this realization has me questioning: “What is home?”

Is it a place?
Is it a feeling?
Is it the people?

What happens when your physical home uproots itself and transplants 3,000 miles away?

One thing I know for sure - our home has always been my safe space.

A place I can always come back to and feel held, grounded, and loved.

No mask.
No filter.
Just me being exactly who I am.

With time, I imagine the answers will continue to reveal itself.

But for now - it’s all hands on deck.

House prep.
Projects.
Packing.
Planning.

Selling everything in sight to prepare for the cross-country move.

(Including a two-day estate sale)

I’m genuinely so excited for my parents to start this next chapter of their lives - being closer to my sister, grandbaby Leo, starting fresh in a new city.

It’s exciting.

At the same time, it’s brought a wave of emotions.

Gratitude for all our home has provided the last 24 years.
Sadness in letting go.

And appreciation for the wonderful life our family has lived, nestled in a beautiful corner of the United States.

I mean… come on. Look at this place! “The Point” in Gig Harbor, Washington staring at Mount Rainier, treelines painting the base, and a sailboat cruising by

We moved here in 2002 thinking we’d be here for only two years…

But 24 years later, here we are.

This place will always feel like home, and the memories are endless:

  • Dogs sprinting off the back deck, chasing every bird in sight.

  • Get-togethers on the back deck playing liar’s dice, cornhole, and summer BBQs.

  • Christmas mornings sprinting downstairs with my sister at 5am to see what Santa brought.

  • Simple mornings: coffee, journaling, and life chats.

I’m still wrapping my head around it all as we empty out each room that has served its role over the last 2.5 decades.

As I navigate these changes, it’s also led me to question my own life.

Where will I go?
What will I do?
What is this next chapter of my life going to look like?

Here’s the “plan”

June - help parents pack, prep, and move out of house
July - drive to Mississippi, help parents move in
August - back in Gig Harbor for a wedding

After that?

Absolutely no idea.

Ground in Mississippi for a bit?
Stick around the Pacific Northwest?
Keep hammering the 34 countries by age 34?
US Roadtrip again?
Live somewhere new?

Couldn’t tell ya.

After years of career goals, 3/5-year plans, and life roadmaps, I have no idea what’s next.

I don’t even know where I’ll be in two months.

But what I can say is that amidst this wild season of uncertainty, I’m trusting the path will continue to reveal itself, as it already has, one aligned action at a time.

And right now - that aligned action is right here at home.

Helping my parents.
Soaking in the summer days.
Admiring the natural beauty that surrounds us.

Enjoying these final moments of being “home.”

With a deep sense of gratitude that I get to help my parents right now.

And be a part of this massive life transition.

Together.

Thinking, “Maybe home isn’t a place. But a feeling. A feeling of being with those we love. Feeling alive. Sharing life experiences with the people that matter most to us.”

And maybe that’s exactly what this whole chapter is about.

Learning that amidst the chaos life throws our way, we can find that sense of home anytime, any place.

Cheers to this one wild, precious life.

🧘‍♂️ Mindfulness Tip of the Week

Tip: Stop & Stare

Action: Next time you’re on a run, walk, hike, or simply out and about, stop and stare at something beautiful.

Value: This is one of my favorite meditations. So often we’re in full “go-mode,” that it’s easy to overlook the simple, beautiful things life has to offer.

How green the trees are.
The colors of the sunset, after the sunset.
The ripples in the water reminding us how one small action can leave lasting impact.

It’s the classic, “stop and smell the roses.”

I think there’s something to it.

🎯 Commitment of the Week

Commitment: No screens past 9pm

Rationale: My travel routines are dialed. Early to bed. Early to rise. Quality sleep. Substantially less screens.

Since I’ve been home, I’ve found myself watching TV later than I’d like, going to bed later than I’d like, eating more than I’d like, and waking up later than I’d like.

So, this seems like the simple, high-leverage change that can create the most impact.

Simple changes, high rewards.

Let’s make it a great week.
