What up y’all! I’m officially back home after completing my 150-Hour Meditation Teacher Training (MTT).
So here are 150 lessons I learned during the training:
.
.
Just kidding.
That sounds brutal for everyone.
But here’s one major idea from the training that’s been on my heart:
Do the work.
It’s back to the beginner’s mindset we discussed a couple weeks ago.
During MTT, we discussed what yoga teachers get paid.
Some are donation-based.
Some earn a percentage of attendance.
Some earn $60-$100 per class.
My pay was substantially lower.
But I didn’t care.
Starting a new career teaching yoga, my goal wasn’t maximizing income.
My goal was becoming the best teacher I could be.
And to keep improving at doing something I love.
Here were my priorities:
Honing my craft
Writing down lessons after each class
Practicing outside the studio
Seeking feedback from mentors & experienced teachers
And above all - getting reps.
Saying yes to every opportunity.
Learning new sequences.
Teaching new styles.
And improving.
Little by little.
Day by day.
Trusting that down the road, if I continue to pursue this path, financial opportunities will present themselves.
But that doesn’t happen without first being a great teacher.
Plus, it’s something I simply love doing.
And that passion doesn’t have a price tag.
(P.S. - the dedication to continuous improvement did pay dividends:
Taught great classes → earned extra classes → earned more money)

Teaching my first ever yoga class… for free! This was an opportunity to prove myself, and earn the next opportunity

Patios, backyards, studios, airports - doesn’t matter the time or place, I was putting in the reps. Here is mom and I practicing Hot 26 after I was offered an opportunity to teach this new sequence
🌱 For you: where can you apply the beginner’s mindset to your life?
A new adventure?
New passion?
New career?
I remember starting out as a young and hungry Sales Development Rep in the tech world almost a decade ago.
I signed for whatever they offered - I didn’t care about the money.
I just wanted the opportunity.
To be great.
To be the best.
I poured my heart and soul into being the best rep I could be.
Devoured sales books.
Studied the greats.
Absorbed podcasts.
Invested in coaching and mentors.
And more importantly, did the work.
Made endless cold calls (over 100,000 in my career).
Got hung up on.
Cussed out.
But kept showing up, day after day.
Year after year.
Picking up the phone.
Writing and re-writing scripts.
Trying new techniques that others were scared to try.
Simply remaining pleasantly persistent in doing the work.
And ultimately ended up winning SDR of the Year.
Becoming the first SDR in company history to become an Account Executive (usual path was to Account Manager).
And crushing my roles year over year.
All because nothing replaces reps.
Not talent.
Not strategy.
Not luck.
But reps.
Doing the work.
Again and again and again.
Looking back, every meaningful opportunity in my life started the same way:
Doing the work before results arrived.
With love for the game.
And love for the process.
Go get it 🚀

Early SDR days in software sales. Won the costume contest. When I’m in, I’m all the way in. Plus, great way to get between the CEO (left) and VP Sales (right)!
🧘♂️ Mindfulness Tip of the Week
Tip: Post-Meal Walks
Action: Go for a walk after each meal. Especially after dinner when meals tend to be heaviest.
Value: It’s one of my easiest, most important habit stacks I do for health, digestion, and feeling good.
Benefits include:
- Boosting digestion
- Supporting metabolism
- Stabilizing blood sugar
Not to mention it just feels amazing to move your body. And getting fresh air outside is still undefeated.
